Minahasa Lagoon on North Sulawesi in the Indonesian Archipelago is locally known as “Mangatasik” which literally means “a beauty which leaves you open-mouthed.” And that is what it is.
At Minahasa Lagoon every one of the 15 comfortable and air-conditioned bungalows has its own veranda overlooking the sea so that the surrounding view can be fully appreciated and you can let your jaw drop.
Beautiful wood from the nearby Moluccas Islands has been used for both the exterior of the buildings and their interior furnishings and the cottages have been built in the typical architectural style of the region. The typical stones of the area have been used for fittings, bridges, and protection so that the resort is in perfect harmony with the surrounding atmosphere. Everything has been done to make your stay as comfortable as possible without causing any damage to the wild beauty of the place. The showers, in stone, are partially surrounded by vegetation and some beautiful native flowers will always be present in the room. But the first thing you will discover in Minahasa Lagoon is how wonderful it is just to do nothing at all.
The cottages are spacious and completely private, including the completely private open-air bathroom, and the broad wooden terrace complete with ocean view. Other amenities include a stocked mini bar, tea and coffee facilities, IDD phone, wireless internet connection, private safe and complete toiletries.
In the central restaurant at the resort the finest international cuisine is served along tasty local specialties. Or you may prefer the charming jungle restaurant immersed in the vegetation and high on the lagoon, a characteristic and delightful ‘hut’ where the most traditional recipes of the region can be discovered. The swimming pool is “lowered” into the sea, in front of the restaurant.
For the last twenty years, enthusiasts have considered Manado one of the most fascinating places for scuba diving, thanks to its unique and unrivalled bio-diversity. In a relatively small area – the marine park of Bunaken and Manado – more than three thousand varieties of fish and about three hundred species of coral are present.
Good visibility year round makes snorkeling unforgettable. In addition to diving or snorkeling in the world famous Marine Park of Bunaken, Minahasa Resort also offers excellent dive and snorkeling sites right at its doorstep where a large variety of critters and other rare species can be seen just minutes away.
The PADI registered dive centre is managed by multi-lingual, dive instructors, and offers PADI certifications. The dive centre is fully equipped with state of the art Scubapro gear, the latest generation of compressors, and Enriched Air (Nitrox membrane system). On offer are 12 and 15 liter steel and aluminum tanks standard 80 cf with mono INT valves (double valve and DIN adaptors available).
Comfortable, roomy boats equipped with individual tank and gear stations protected from the elements, diver first aid kits, pure oxygen tanks, marine heads and fresh water showers for rinsing off after dives accompany you on your excursions. The crew will happily set up, break down and rise your dive gear for you, while the experienced guides will safely show you all the underwater wonders of Bunaken.
