One of Papua New Guinea’s best kept secrets sits hidden away on a volcanic cliff overlooking the clear protected waters of Milne Bay and is only accessible by boat. Tawali Resort offers travelers a unique location to relax and enjoy the wonders of the South Pacific.
Use Tawali as a chance to step back in time and let the drag of everyday life be a distant memory. Explore the abundant marine life, or kayak the tropical coast dotted with villages. Learn about the flora and fauna of New Guinea with guided hikes to skull caves and waterfalls; Or just relax on Tawali`s spacious observation deck nestled in the thick jungle foliage 120 feet above a beautiful coral reef.
The bungalows are all deluxe accommodations with all modern amenities, built entirely by the local population with all carvings and woodwork done entirely by hand. The five guest buildings are set around the top of a cliff overlooking the bay and forests. At the most Tawali will accommodate twenty divers with ease, which makes your vacation a very intimate experience.
Tawali's remarkable Coastal Day Dives includes the best of Milne Bay, with most sites just minutes away. Muck diving as well as wonderful walls with an abundance of soft corals, large sea fans, anemones with clown fish and large pelagics such as hammerheads and whale sharks are just a few of the amazing experiences to be had.
Trips are scheduled for mornings and afternoons with two dives per trip. Diving on coastal sites is done from two 22-foot boats which carry a maximum of only six divers each.
Outer reef dives in Milne Bay offer a chance to experience beautiful pinnacles with abundant and varied marine life; as well as walls with anemones, sea fans, sharks and other large pelagics. All dives are within a 25 to 40 minute boat ride from Tawali and include three-tank dives with lunch served on board, or ashore on nearby islands where you can explore the verdant surroundings. Outer reef diving is done from the comfort of a 37-foot Catamaran, serving a maximum of 12 divers. |
